Evangelical leader Ray Comfort, known as the bananaman, interviews evolution proponents (mostly students) from different universities in the United States and tries to expose the so called “unscientific nature” of evolution which he refers to as a “blind faith”, not science. The film tries to show intelligent design as a competing theory and suggests that the academe continues to bully intelligent design as an option. "Aangetaste naden mogelijk oorzaak nieuw lek Fukushima"

De oorzaak van het nieuwe lek in de kerncentrale van Fukushima is mogelijk gevonden. Dat zegt beheerder Tepco, zo melden verscheidene media. In een koelwatertank was vorige week een lek ontdekt, waardoor een grote hoeveelheid radioactief besmet water wegvloeide. De oorzaak zouden aangetaste naden van een opslagtank zijn.

Tepco schatte dinsdag dat het gaat om in totaal driehonderd ton. Het water zou deels in de bodem terechtgekomen zijn maar ook in de Stille Oceaan. Het gelekte water bevat volgens Tepco onder andere strontium, dat het beenmerg aantast en leukemie kan veroorzaken.

De kerncentrale van Fukushima liep schade op bij de aardbeving en de tsunami van 11 maart 2011. Het kwam tot een meltdown. Sindsdien pompen de herstellingsteams onophoudelijk water in de reactoren, om die te laten afkoelen. De grote hoeveelheid radioactief besmet water wordt opgeslagen in tanks, maar Tepco slaagt er niet in om al dat water op de site te houden.

De Amerikaan Darren Taylor, ook bekend als 'Professor Splash' en wereldrecordhouder vrije val in ondiep water, heeft vanmiddag zijn eigen wereldrecord verbroken in Koksijde. Hij dook van maar liefst 11,45 meter naar beneden in een plonsbadje dat gevuld was met maar 30 centimeter water. Het initiatief ging uit van televisiezender vtm, die daarmee het programma 'De Grote Sprong' in de kijker wou zetten.

Het was al het dertigste record voor de Amerikaan. "Zo'n sprong wagen is eng, heel erg eng. Het idee is dat ik zoveel mogelijk water laat opspatten en dat ik plat op mijn buik land. Ik ben dan ook zo blij dat deze officiële wereldrecordpoging gelukt is", zei hij.

Syrië

Enkele dagen na de vermeende aanval met chemische wapens in Syrië, die het leven kostte aan honderden mensen, is de angst onder de inwoners van Damascus groot dat ook het water en het voedsel zijn besmet geraakt met het gif.

Terwijl de Syrische regering met de rebellen en de Verenigde Naties aan het uitvechten is wie er verantwoordelijk is voor de ergste aanval met chemische wapens sinds Saddam Hoessein 1988, maken de mensen zich vooral zorgen over hun gezondheid.
