MONKEY MEMO: daily update
Thomas tells us in his Gospel stories of Jesus as a child. In one, Jesus is playing in the mud, making clay-figurines.

A neighbor complains to Josef about the fact, that the young Messiah was”working”, which is forbidden to Jews on sabbath-day.

Josef walks over to Jesus and orders him to stop.

Suddenly, the clay-figurines turned into birds and when Jesus moved his hands, they flew away. “Remember me by this.”, the boy said.

A beautiful story, with many layers; one being the confrontation of religious dogma (the rules of the sabbath) and a playing child.

When Pope Frances appeared in his “pope-mobiel” on St. Peters-square, a white pigeon landed on his waving hand. A miracle?

Fact is, that this performance was practised many times, with a fake pope, with food in his hands and dressed in a white robe. The trick worked; the link to Frances of Assisi was made.

Unfortunately the “holy pigeon”, expected to perform more miracles, was killed and eaten by a falcon. Rumours go, that this bird of prey was trained by the communists.
