THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL

Dear Avaazers,

Right now, at least 7,000 unaccompanied children are seeking refuge in Europe from unimaginable violence. Kids as young as 10 are without their parents, sleeping in freezing camps or on railway stations, and being stalked by dangerous traffickers.

The craziest thing is that the authorities won’t let them in even though many have family in Europe who can give them homes.

Finally we can help end their terror. Avaaz has teamed up with refugee experts who’ve just won a legal case requiring the UK to give unaccompanied kids asylum if they have family in Britain.

The judges have ruled for common sense and humanity, but unless this case can be used to protect children across Europe, many may still fall prey to the smugglers. If enough of us chip in, Avaaz and our partners can move right now to back this ruling with an EU-wide campaign to identify the children, get them urgent legal assistance and counselling, and help ensure they get food and shelter.

In a civilised, humane world, no child would face this terror. Let's help build that world today.
