Dankzij jou: 176.062 handtekeningen tegen verre veetransporten Eind november overhandigde Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) maar liefst 176.062 handtekeningen aan de Europese Commissie aan. Onze boodschap is duidelijk en simpel: verbied de export van levend Europees vee naar landen buiten de EU! In gesprek met de Europese Commissie Door de recente gebeurtenissen in Parijs en de onveilige situatie in Brussel, moesten we helaas onze laatste actie met het koeienstandbeeld in Brussel annuleren. Gelukkig hebben we wel een ontmoeting met de Europese Commissie gehad. Die beloofde ons een officiële reactie op de petitie, die we met je zullen delen zodra we ze ontvangen. Problemen Turkse grens We hadden nog een dringend verzoek aan de Europese Commissie: vraag de lidstaten nu met alle transporten naar Turkije te stoppen, ook al is er nu nog geen verbod. Op de Turkse grenspost moeten dieren vaak dagenlang wachten, in hete, volle en vuile veewagens, zonder voldoende rust of water. Dit is niet alleen wreed, het is ook in strijd met de Europese wet. Stop dit nu Minstens 12 Europese landen exporteren landbouwdieren naar Turkije, terwijl bekend is dat er vaak problemen zijn. Toch bemoeit de EU zich er niet mee. Als Europa niet in actie komt, doen wij het wel. Vraag deze 12 landen nu de wrede transporten naar Turkije per direct te stoppen! - Even modern science is still playing catch-up to certain

Norwegian hunters are lining up to kill the most sought-after animal for hunting this season: wolves. This is despite the fact that there are as few as 30 of these animals left in the wild in Norway. More than 11,000 people have applied for licenses to kill just 16 of these creatures -- more than 700 hunters per wolf. How can they expect to survive with odds like that?
The main pack of these wolves live in an area of Norway that is protected from hunting. But when a wolf wanders outside of these areas for food, they are suddenly fair game for hunters. The decision to open up wolf hunting this year was supposedly to protect livestock, despite the fact that populations are not at healthy levels according to Norwegian authorities.
This plan is disastrous. If enough wolves wander out of the protected area and are killed by overzealous hunters, this wolf population could be decimated. Please speak out now asking Norwegian authorities to revoke all licenses to hunt wolves!
