SiTU MONKEY MEMO: daily update
Alaskan golddiggers call the earth and rocks they process “dirt”. With enormous machines a terrain is being stripped. No tree is left standing, no bush remains. After this “natural cleansing”, all the movable sand, stones and rocks are washed in a machine to separate the gold from the “dirt”. Chemicals are used, that pollute the streams.
The amount of gold they find is minimal. A couple of ounces of gold is nothing, compared to the environmental destruction (and machinery), they leave behind, when the goldminers move a new, more promising, area.

There even have a new source of income. Mammoth-tusks. They do $20.000 easy and can simply be blasted out of the rocks.

This total madness is coordinated by the Alaskan Environment Department and they execute a strict regime. If you don't have the necessary permits, the crew has to wait a couple of weeks. But no problem. Everybody owns several guns and semi-automatics. An Alaskan has the right to carry arms and the freedom to fire them at will. Especially in nature.
