Australians love a drink, and some see no problem at all with drinking to excess. But now doctors, police and paramedics have called “time”, warning that alcohol-fueled violence has reached crisis levels.
Read the statistics and it’s hard to argue with these dire warnings. The latest figures show that each year as many as 70,000 people are involved in alcohol-related assaults.
In all, it is estimated that alcohol-related violence costs the community $187 million each year. Four Corners also reveals there’s a growing body of evidence that shows a link between binge drinking and brain damage.
While the overall incidence of alcohol-related violent crime varies in each state in Australia, one thing is clear: the violence associated with alcohol abuse is getting more extreme.

Paus Johannes Paulus II werd op 1 mei 2011 door paus Benedictus XVI zalig verklaard. De zaligverklaring gebeurde op basis van de eveneens onverklaarbare genezing van een Franse kloosterzuster van de ziekte van Parkinson. Het was de eerste keer dat iemand zo snel na zijn dood zalig werd verklaard.
De bevindingen van de artsen over het tweede wonder gaan nu voor verder onderzoek naar de theologische commissie van de Congregatie voor de heiligverklaringen. De resultaten worden uiteindelijk aan de paus voorgelegd.

Berezovsky
He symbolized financial machinations and was called no less than a political kingmaker. He survived numerous attempts on his life, went into exile and remained a wanted figure in Russia until his death. RTDoc looks at the life – and mysterious death – of Boris Berezovsky.
Berezovsky was found dead in his home in Ascot, Berkshire. According to British police, a post-mortem exam found that his death was consistent with hanging and that there were no signs of a violent struggle.
His death prompted immediate comparisons to the 2006 murder of Alexander Litvinenko, a former KGB officer who was friends with Berezovsky.

“Everything is going according to plan, Madam.” The spokesman, obvious a member of operational services, looked up at the tall, blondhaired woman, who was overlooking the surroundings from het commandpost in the spaceship. That was not the official name, but its goal was to rescue endangered species of life. Life was a priceless and special commodity in this universe, though the opposite was true. This planet was full of life. It even contained intelligent humanoid species, unique to the universe. But even though there was room enough for everybody and their adaptability to natural circumstances was formidable, the humanoid species clashed and a fight over territory, huntinggrounds and habitable places drove one type of humans to merely extinction. Nothing could stop this process, becaue the winning side strongly believed, that, although they looked quite similar, that their fellow human being were animals, who should be hunted down, because they represented a danger for the grow and blossoming of their way of life. The latter meaning continuous battles over territory or women. This inherent aggression was now focused on this, shrinking, population.

The story of Omar Khadr – You don’t like the truth
Last September The Guardian reported about Omar Khadr:Omar Khadr has grown from boy to man at Guantánamo Bay. In 2002 the 15-year-old Khadr, a Canadian, was captured by US forces during a firefight in Afghanistan and taken first to Bagram airbase and then to Guantánamo, where he eventually pleaded guilty to throwing a grenade that killed a US soldier. A decade on, Khadr – the only child solder to be prosecuted in a military commission for war crimes – remains in the detention centre while his lawyers press the Canadian government to honour its promise to bring him home.He was transported to Canada where he has to fulfill the remainder of his sentence. His eligible for parole this year. Dutch showed a documentary (English, Dutch subtitles) about this youngest prisoner of Guantanamo Bay:
Canada has come under fire for its apparent use of delaying tactics to keep Khadr, the last western citizen left at Guantánamo, locked up in a facility where he has been abused and his rights violated.

A Global Government, A Global Democracy
We need a global government. But how do we launch such a LeviathanA global government to focus on issues like, Global Resource Management, Environmental Conservation, Human Rights Laws, Preserving the Human Race.
An organization like the UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY, except with the sovereignty to actually make decisions stick. If democracy is in the best interest of the human race, then why isn't the UN democratic? Why do 5 countries in the Security Council have the ability to veto decisions made by the General Assembly. Why can the decision of 1 or 2 countries, prevail over the consensus of 152 countries. Why can't the International Community successfully prevent the human rights abuse, war, and environmental degradation that plagues society?
A global government could potentially work. It could be a representative democracy. It could have the ability to enforce decisions made by the International Community. All countries would have to agree to the creation of this sovereign government, and then comply to enforcing its decisions with concrete actions.
This global government would need to be backed by a large enough military power, or have the ability to sanction effectively, so that no one or two countries could possibly ignore or defy it. With complete International cooperation, it is possible.
And who would rule such a Leviathan and carry out its many tasks? It would require so many people. It would be a massive organization. We'd need an online, global Voting System. Only one political party, the International Community itself as a whole. Through a global voting system, each person from any country on the planet (over 18) could have access to a vote online. This is entirely possible over the Internet.
It would have to be free of corruption and voter fraud of course, but there must be a way to make digital voting 100% secure and transparent. This can work if the whole world agrees to work together. But how do we convince every country to participate?
